MRX: Model Railway Exhibition

Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 May 2020 - 10am to 4.30pm

 

Family friendly day out featuring a wide variety of working model railway layouts

 

Our annual model railway exhibition featuring over 20 operational model railway layouts set among our historic road transport collection. There will also be seminars and demonstrations for people wishing to learn more about Digital Command Control (DCC) railway modelling and a wide range of trade stalls for all your model railway supplies.

 

This event is jointly organised with the Lancashire & Yorkshire DCC Model Rail Group which aims to promote Digital Command Control (DCC) model railways.

 

Admission charges - revised charges apply
  • Adults £7, 65 & over £7, students £7, jobseekers £7
  • Accompanied children under 16 visit free, disabled visit free
  • GMTS Members, MoTGM Friends & TfGM staff visit free
  • Employees of GM bus operators & Metrolink with valid staff pass visit free

 

Getting to the Museum

We recommend that you use public transport to travel to the Museum, or use our free heritage CentreShuttle (see below). Don’t forget you can use rail tickets showing Manchester CTLZ as the destination to reach Manchester Victoria via Metrolink.

 

CentreShuttle 4 - our free heritage bus link with Manchester city centre - will operate throughout this event

 

Refreshments

An expanded selection of light meals and refreshments, including a greater range of hot food, will be available

Morris Minor Show

Sunday 23 February 2020 - 10am to 4.30pm

Classic cars from the 1940s to the 1970s on display

 

The Morris Minor was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis (creator of the Mini) and was built by Morris Motors, later by the British Motor Corporation and eventually British Leyland.

 

The Morris Minor Owners Club promotes the preservation and use of the post war Morris Minor, 1.6 million of which were produced between 1948 and 1971. This event is organised by the Manchester Branch of the Morris Minor Owners' Club.

Standard Triumph Show

Sunday 27 September 2020 - 10am to 4.30pm

(cars will be on display until around 3pm)

 

A selection of classic Standard and Triumph cars on display

 

The Standard Motor Company of Coventry produced cars from 1903 to 1963 and in 1945 it purchased Triumph, after which it produced cars under both marques as Standard Triumph. The company eventually became part of Leyland Motors and then British Leyland.

 

The Standard Motor Club was formed in 1973 to promote interest in cars produced by The Standard Motor Company and Standard Triumph and The Manchester Standard Triumph Group of the Club was formed in 1999.
