Greater Manchester Transport Society (GMTS) is the volunteer charity which operates the Museum of Transport in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). We are Accredited by Arts Council England.
Our largest source of funding is visitor and membership income. This contributes to the upkeep and development of the Museum and its collections. It also helps fund extra storage space to allow us to continue to tell the story of Greater Manchester’s transport heritage and to rotate our displays. We also rely on your additional generosity as well as occasional grants to continue to protect our heritage.

Greater Manchester’s rich transport heritage needs to be passed onto future generations in order to keep the heritage alive. You can do this by leaving a bequest to Greater Manchester Transport Society.
There are two types of bequest you can specify in your will:
You can leave a specific amount of money to us.
You can also leave a share of what’s left over after all your wishes have been carried out.
You may wish to consider leaving property, objects or a collection to us with the intention that these could be added to our collections or sold to support our work, as appropriate.
